Voss and the surroundings offer a great variety of skiing/boarding terrain. The mountains are diverse with big open faces, short steep pitches with fun cliffs, or challenging tree skiing. In the winter there are many options for day ski touring and fun accessible peaks. The mountains in and around Voss are great for ski touring, and we would like to invite you to join us during Vinterveko.

Friday 09:00 Olsskavlen (Two runs)

Olsskavlen is the highest mountain in Voss and one of the largest on the west coast. It is the eastern peak of Raundalseggi and is 1576 meters above sea level. The summit is a paradise for exciting runs!

We´ll hike up the ´normal route´ from Voll to the top. There are several ridges and flanks towards Hardanger that are perfect for powder skiing. The view is amazing all the way down. It is quite vulnerable in bad weather conditions, therefore we do have an alternative summit if the weather is bad.

To join this trip you must be in a relatively good shape and have ski touring experience. If the weather is fine, we’ll climb the mountain twice, from two different angles. This is a proper ski tour with lots of nice skiing.

10 people can join this trip.

Friday 09:00 Horndalsnuten

Horndalsnuten is a backcountry treasure in Voss. It is easily accessible and has a large selection of runs. Horndalsnuten is 1461 meters above sea level, which is the western peak of Raundalseggi. The tour starts at Skiple and we´ll hike the ´normal´ route towards the top. We´ll ski down the same way we hike up as the terrain is perfect for big long turns. The summit is one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Voss and the run back to Skiple is stunning. This is a classical ski tour in Voss and the terrain is relatively gentle. We´ll take it nice and slow, no rush on this tour.

To join the tour you must be in okay shape and be familiar with your ski touring equipment. The tour to Horndalsnuten is rated easier than Olsskavlen, even though both of them are big mountains with exciting runs.

10 people can join this trip.

Saturday 11:00 Hermannsnuten

Hermannsnuten is located south of Voss and is 1219 meters above sea level. To get there, we´ll start in Bordalen, more precise Tesdal. Hermannsnuten offers great big mountain skiing and as we ride down we’ll have some awesome skiing in the woods too. There is a big chance of proper powder skiing as the valley preserves the snow well.

This is a social ski tour where everyone who likes ski touring should feel free to join. Bring some oranges and chocolate and we’ll have a great day in the snow.

We aim to be back down in Voss long before the evening’s festivities starts.

15 people can join this trip

The ski tours are social and fun and will be lead by local, ridiculously good looking, men and women!

Note: This is not guided tours, but a social gathering for backcountry skiers, who would like to get to know the areas around Voss.

Equipment:

We expect you to have clothing for any conditions. Your backpack shall contain clothes for breaks and unexpected stops. You must be familiar with your gear, such as your skis and skins. It is mandatory to have beacon, shovel and avalanche probe. We expect you to have knowledge of how to use the equipment and that your equipment works (remember batteries in your biper and so on).

Unfortunately, it is not possible for snowboarders to tag a long these trips as there are quite long marches on the tours.
