Join our Avalanche course, Saturday the 17th of March!

This course is tailor made for freeriders/ ski touring people, who would like a more in depth knowledge about companion rescue and the usage of transceivers. Most out of bounds skiers have transceivers today; however we would like to encourage you to take a course to get a better understanding of how to use your equipment and read the terrain.

The course will start with a theoretical part about avalanche danger and companion rescue. The rest of the course is out in the field practicing usage of transceivers and companion rescue. In addition to this the course will focus on judging various layers of the snow, terrain and route planning (up and down).

Themes for the day will be:

  1. Practicing with transceivers
  2. Terrain
    • Route planning
    • Leeward and loading side of the mountain
    • Terrain traps
    • Terrain features
  3. Snow knowledge
    • Various types of snow
    • How the snow transform and change 
    • Various layers in the snow 
  4. Weather 
    • Temperature
    • Precipitation (rain, snow, etc)
    • Wind direction, wind strength and snow transportation 
  5. Human Factor

After the course the participant will have good skills in how to implement companion rescue, in a quick and efficient way, with the usage of transceivers.
